Okay, I've come up with an exciting idea: soap making! I have been making soap for a few years now and it's one of my favorite pastimes. I've been hanging out on the Yahoo groups learning more and more about making soap and all kinds of other bath goodies. It seems that it is quite common to sell handmade soaps at farmer's markets, and it just so happens that we have a farmer's market about two minutes from our house. Hmm...Could it be the idea I've been looking for?
My soap is sooo yummy! My grandmothers love to get it as a gift. They rave about how great it makes their skin feel and how delicious it smells. If you've never had the pleasure of sampling handmade soap, then you're missing out!
What would my daughter do to earn her cash in this venture? Well, since soapmaking (at least the from scratch kind) is a dangerous activity involving dangerous caustic chemicals, she'd have to maintain her distance during the actual cooking (yes, I cook the soap in the oven--more on that later). I'm thinking more along the lines of sales. If you knew her, you'd know why she's perfect for sales :-)
